What are the Two Categories of Software Licenses?
First, The Permissive Software License. permissive software license, sometimes also called BSD-like or BSD-style license, is a free software license with only minimal restrictions on how the software can be used, modified, and redistributed, usually including a warranty disclaimer. Examples include the GNU All-permissive License, MIT License, BSD licenses, Apple Public Source License, and Apache license. As of 2016, the most popular free software license is the permissive MIT license.
The second is Copy Left Licenses, copyleft is a method for making a software program free while requiring that all modified and extended versions of the program also be free, and released under the same terms and conditions. Copyleft ensures that any attempt by an organization to use open source work in a commercial venture isn't viable.
What is Installer?
An installer is a piece of software used to install software programs on a system. Installers simplify software installation by providing the user a step-by-step process with the ability to select the desired options. In order to install new software on your computer, you often need to run an installer program. This program unpacks compressed data included with the installer and writes new information to your hard drive. While some installers do not use compressed data, most use some level of compression since it reduces the size of the files included with the installer. This is especially helpful when downloading programs or software updates from the Internet.
An installer can either install a new program on your computer or can update a program currently on your hard drive. It can also update or add files to your operating system. Most installers can be run by simply double-clicking the installer icon and then choosing the folder you want to install the software into.
Types of Installation:
-In an attended installation, someone is required to interact with the computer while it executes the installation process. This is a process that IT professionals should be familiar with, but one the average user will rarely if ever, need to perform.
-An installation program that displays no dialogs after starting. It is used when uniformity is mandatory, and options are not allowed such as changing the name of the destination folder. See install program and unattended installare unattended but not all unattended installations are silent. The reason
behind a silent installation may be convenience or subterfuge. Malware is almost always installed silently.
3. Un-Attended Installation
-An unattended installation is the traditional method of deploying a Windows operating system. Unattended installations use an answer file named Unattend. xml, which contains user input to various GUI dialog boxes that appear during the installation process. An unattended installation either does not require the user to supply anything or has received all necessary input prior to the start of installation. Such input may be in the form of command line switches or an answer file, a file that contains all the necessary parameters.
4. Headless Installation
-The Headless Installation of Oracle Communications Session Delivery Manager is a fast, simplified installation process that runs without the setup application. Headless software is software capable of working on a device without a graphical user interface or performs without a monitor connected.
5. Schedules Automated Installation
-AI automates the installation of the Oracle Solaris OS on SPARC and x86 clients over the network. You can customize the installation with pre-installation instructions that define the disk layout and software package selection. You can also provide custom system configuration parameters that define the host name, network configuration, user accounts and other post-installation client-specific instructions.
6. Clean Installation

-A clean install is a software installation in which any previous version is eradicated. The alternative to a clean install is an upgrade, in which elements of a previous version remain. A clean installation of a newer version of the existing operating system is sometimes referred to as a clean upgrade.A clean install is an operating system (OS) installation that overwrites all other content on the hard disk. Unlike a typical OS upgrade, a clean install removes the current operating system and user files during the installation process.
7. Network Installation
-Network installation, shortened netinstall, is an installation of a program from a shared network resource that may be done by installing a minimal system before proceeding to download further packages over the network.installation of a program from a shared network resource. This may simply be a copy of the original media but software publishers which offer site licenses for institutional customers may provide a version intended for installation over a network.
What is Bootstrapper?
A bootstrapper eases the installation of the various required components for an application. - It provides a simple, automated way for detecting, downloading, and installing applications and their required components.
- It also detects whether a component is supported on an operating system.
Bootstrap is the process of starting up a computer.
- It also refers to the program that initialize the operating system during start-up.
- It is also referred to a bootstrap load button that was used to initiate a hardwired bootstrap program.
- This is the process of loading a set of instructions when a computer is first turned on or booted.
What is Mobile Operating System
A mobile operating system (OS) is software that allows smartphones, tablet PCs (personal computers) and other devices to run applications and programs.
A mobile OS typically starts up when a device powers on, presenting a screen with icons or tiles that present information and provide application access. Mobile operating systems also manage cellular and wireless network connectivity, as well as phone access.
Types of Mobile Operating System
-The Android operating system is a mobile operating system that was developed by Google(GOOGLE) to be primarily used for touchscreen devices, cell phones, and tablets. Its design lets users manipulate the mobile devices intuitively, with finger movements that mirror common motions, such as pinching, swiping, and tapping. Google also employs Android software in televisions, cars, and wristwatches each of which is fitted with a unique user interface.
2.IOS
-Apple's mobile operating system, iOS, runs the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. Originally known as the iPhone OS, the name was changed to iOS with the introduction of the iPad. Since 2019, the iPad has had a separate OS, called iPadOS.Apple iOS uses a multi-touch interface in which simple gestures operate compatible devices, such as swiping your finger across the screen to move to the next page or pinching your fingers to zoom out.
